Aus der Serie »Pavillon d´Elégance«, Paris 1937. Photographien aus dem Nachlass 1996. Verso typographischer Bezeichnung. Papiergrößen je ca: 37,6 x 28,7 cm. Edition Griffelkunst-Vereinigung, Hamburg. – Wols hatte als junger Mann in Dresden bei der Porträtphotographin Genia Jonas das Photographieren erlernt. Nach seiner Emigration nach Paris 1933 nutzte er diese Fähigkeit, um seinen Lebensunterhalt zu verdienen. Neben Auftragsporträts entstanden dort zahlreiche Aufnahmen von Freunden aus der Literatur-, Kunst- und Schauspielszene. (Griffelkunst)

Edition Griffelkunst-Vereinigung, Hamburg. – As a young man in Dresden, Wols had learned photography from the portrait photographer Genia Jonas. After his emigration to Paris in 1933, he used this skill to earn his living. In addition to commissioned portraits, he took numerous photographs of friends from the literary, artistic and acting scenes. (Griffelkunst)
