Bärs erste »€Â«digital paintings»€Â« entstanden während seines Studiums an der Universität Wuppertal von 1986 bis 1989 bei Michael Badura, Fachbereich Malerei. Holger Bär beschäftigt sich seit vielen Jahren damit, den Entstehungsprozess von Malerei zu automatisieren. Er setzt dabei ganz auf die Möglichkeiten, die die Robotik bietet: Seine Technik – das »€Â«digital painting»€Â« – nutzt digitale Vorlagen, die von selbst entwickelten Maschinen auf die Leinwand übertragen werden – Pixel für Pixel. So entstehen, ähnlich wie bei einem Monitor, aus zahlreichen Bildpunkten seine Kunstwerke. So hinterfragen Holger Bärs Bilder die Eindeutigkeit künstlerischer Urheberschaft und haben als häufiges, mit den Pop-Artisten gemeinsames Motiv, Ikonen des Alltags. (Wikipedia)

Holger Bär has been working for many years on automating the process of creating paintings. In doing so, he relies entirely on the possibilities offered by robotics: His technique – »digital painting« – uses digital templates that are transferred to the canvas by machines he developed himself – pixel by pixel. In this way, similar to a monitor, his works of art are created from numerous pixels. Thus Holger Bär's pictures question the unambiguousness of artistic authorship and have as a frequent motif, common with the pop artists, icons of everyday life. (Wikipedia)
